CREATE Center of the Arts is 3D printing masks and face shields to help protect those in our community, including medical personnel, essential workers, seniors and those most at risk for COVID-19. We believe everyone in our community deserves the ability to protect themselves and their families and we are working tirelessly to try and provide this essential protection to as many as we can, at no cost to them. This community supported project is continuing to deliver hundreds of shields each week thanks to you!
CREATE Center started 3D Printing in early 2019 thanks to a generous grant we received from Bighhorn Cares. We were able to supplement our tech lab with additional support of a Spotlight Grant from the HN Frances C Berger Foundation and KESQ.
In March of 2020, CREATE was looking for a way to continue to serve our community as the COVID-19 pandemic started to affect our region. After talking with doctors and healthcare professionals in our area, we decided to re-imagine our 3D printing efforts and started to print masks and face shields for local hospitals and clinics.
By April, other members of the community had stepped in to help by using their 3D printers to help us meet demand. This included the La Quinta Creation Station, Bill Craig at 3DRP, and 10 year old Sawyer using his 3D printer in his bedroom! Additional donations from Modern Woodmen and community supporters have allowed us to turn our 3D printing program into a round-the-clock PPE printing factory!
Over the last few months we have been able to donate thousands of pieces of much needed PPE to hospitals, clinics, nonprofits, and essential businesses around the Coachella Valley, as well as making masks and shields available to at risk individuals through pick up and delivery. These include Eisenhower Medical Center, Desert Regional Medical Center, Borrego Medico Health Clinics in the east valley, Desert Aids Project, Joslyn Center, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, SafeHouse of the Desert, FIND Food Bank, Family YMCA of the Desert, Angel View, Variety The Children's Charity, and more.
We need your help to to meet the growing needs of our community, donations are needed to order more materials and printers. Availability of materials is being impacted by high demand, equipment orders must be placed as immediately as possible. Please contribute today. Help us save lives!
When we first began this project, we didn't know how serious local demand was for protective gear, and as cases are increasing locally, this demand is greater than ever. Together with our community partners, we continue to 3D print PPE around the clock. Thanks to your generous support we continue to be of service to those in need at this critical time.
